Namibia - other worldy

Namibia is vast with gorgeous scenery and starry nighttime skies as far as the eye can see. Big bouldery outcrops and ancient rock art of Damaraland fall into endless, mountainous sand dunes of Sossusvlei, which then fade into the voracious Atlantic sea along the Skeleton Coast. It’s a country the size of France, with a population not much more than that of Paris, so travelers can experience huge wilderness. Desert-adapted wildlife roam the stark moonscapes and traditional tribes, like the Himba, still live off the land in the Kunene region, where the horizon line has a special sort of finesse. Etosha National Park is a fantastic wildlife destination, famous for expansive salt pans that attract large herds of elephants. All of these destinations can be seen by flying from place to place, but doing a self-drive adventure is a safe and easy way to take it all in at your own pace.
